Following his success in the Philippines and Dubai, Mustaqim’s career reached a crucial point when he arrived in India. From 2018 to 2024, India served as his training ground, holding various highly detailed strategic roles at renowned academies.
In India, Mustaqim’s role has been comprehensive. Starting in 2018-2019 as a coach andsparring partner Of Subhankar Dey Badminton AcademyIn Kolkata, he was directly responsible for developing India’s elite players, including Subhankar Dey himself, who reached a BWF world ranking of 38.
His role expanded in 2019-2020 as an assistant coach atManav Rachna Sports Academy, Faridabad, before finally being trusted asHead Coach Of SN Badminton Academy, Noida (2021-2022) and leading a training program in Gujarat (2022-2024).
There, Mustaqim planned intensive technical training sessions, video analysis of opponents, and mental support for every major tournament.
Mustaqim’s expert hand in India has been evident in the development of a number of world-ranked players. He has been a behind-the-scenes figure for Anupama Upadhyaya (World No. 48), Adhiti Bhatt (World No. 104 and former member of India’s Uber Cup team), and Shreya Lele (World No. 89).
Not only in the women’s division, but also in the men’s division, he mentors Dingku Singh Konthoujam (World No. 85 in Men’s Doubles). His success in coaching elite athletes and world-ranked players through effective training has made him one of the most respected foreign coaches in India.
ForMustaqim India was both the toughest test and the best school for him. “Coaching players of the caliber of Anupama or Subhankar Dey requires me to always be one step ahead tactically. My role isn’t just on the pitch, but also as a discussion partner for them when they face strategic impasses.”
The 170 cm tall man added, “In India, I learned that every point my students achieved was the result of thousands of hours of detailed analysis and practice that should not be missed.”
After completing his mission in India, Mustaqim now serves asHead Coach Of Athlen Padukone School of Badminton, Qatar (2024-2025).
In Doha, he once again showed his mettle by bringing Pridhav Shyam Gopan to become Qatar’s number 1 player for the U17 and U19 categories, and Muhammad Zaenun Zidan as the number 1 men’s singles player in Qatar.
His world-class coaching quality is supported by BWF Level 1 coaching certification (July 2018) as well as BWF Level 1 coaching certification (July 2018).BWF Shuttle Time Teacher(November 2025).
